Not So Extreme Couponing

Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on the blog. However, I've recently taken up couponing and thought this would be the perfect place to document my progress. I've been interested in couponing ever since I saw the tv show Extreme Couponing, but it always looked hard and time consuming, so I never gave it a shot. Until recently, that is. So far I've only been couponing at Walgreens, but I plan to give Target a try too. And maybe Walmart, if all goes well.

Since I will be starting pharmacy school in the fall (aka I'll become an even poorer college student) I figured now would be the best time to start saving up. I'm by no means and "extreme couponer". Ain't nobody got time for dat. lol. I basically use hip2save.com as my cheat sheet and just get all the coupons needed for products I wish to purchase.

So here's the breakdown for my first 3 couponing trips at Walgreens.

Trip 1: 4/28/14

Colgate Total Toothpaste $3.49
on sale for $2.99
MF coupon for $1 off
paid $1.99 and got back $1.50 RR
final cost $0.49

Softsoap coconut scrub body wash $4.59
on sale for $2.99
MF coupon for $1 off
paid $1.99 and got back $1 RR
final cost $0.99

Colgate 360 clean toothbrush $4.49
on sale for $2.99
MF coupon for $1 off
paid $1.99

Total Paid: $6.51
Total Saved: $6.60

Trip 2: 5/7/14

Nexxus humectress conditioner $16.99
Nexxus color assure shampoo $11.79
MF coupon for $6 off
paid $22.78 and got back $10 RR
final cost $12.78

InStyle magazine $4.99
MF coupon for free issue
final cost FREE

Hershey's bar $0.95
Hershey's almond bar $0.94
Kit Kat $0.95
Wags coupon $0.59 each
final cost $1.77

plus $2.50 RR from last trip

Total Paid: $14.12
Total Saved: $14.56

Trip 3: 5/10/14

Mother's day card $5.99
$0.51 rebate via Checkout51

Lindor truffles on sale 2/$6
Wags coupon for $1/2
paid $5 for both

American cancer society donation $1

plus $10 RR from previous trip

Total Paid: $2.50
plus $4.25 in other rebates via CheckOut51 and $0.50 rebate via Ibotta
final cost FREE plus $2.76 moneymaker
Total Saved: $14.58

So for all 3 trips:
Total Paid: $18.13
Total Saved: $35.74

I'm extremely happy with my savings so far! My goal has been to roll my RR so that each time I'm reducing my out of pocket costs. I'm also trying to make sure that I don't fall into the trap of buying every good deal; so I only buy something if I need it or am sure its something I'll use.

I look forward to more couponing trips and seeing how much I save over the next few months :)

Smiley 360- Campbell's Go Soup

A couple of weeks ago I signed up with Smiley 360. I heard about this site via another blog that I can't remember the name of at the moment. I was a little hesitant but decided to give it a try. It's basically like bzzagent in that you sign up for campaigns and get sent products to test out. So far I have qualified for the Campbell's Go Soup campaign, which I received in the mail today. The contents of the box included:

I can't wait to try this soup out! I will update back with the results.

Love

LET ME.

LET MY words feed your ears and digest into your soul.
LET ME be the one to secure your insecurities.
LET ME give you the only key to my heart and never have to change the locks.
LET LOVE be the reason you believe in us, let us be the reason you believe in love, and let me be the reason you believe in we.
LET ME be the reason you gave up sleep to live your reality.
LET ME be your first thought like breakfast, your mid day like lunch and your dessert post dinner.
LET ME be the reason your girlfriends are jealous.
LET ME be the reason you forgot about your first love.
LET ME be the reason you release all your animosity, replace it with hospitality and gradually learn that what once was a possibility is now our reality.
LET ME be the love you once wished for, dreamed for, cried for and fantasized over.
LET ME make you promises just to show you that I won’t break them.
LET ME remind you how beautiful you are not to boast your ego but to boost your humblesness.
LET ME get you a gift, without asking for anything in return, as long as you let the feeling it brought you yearn in your heart for the fights that are to come.
LET MY eye contact be the reason you succumb to this love.
LET ME be the we you prayed to one day see.
CAN I?

I Got A Package!

So today I opened my front door to find a box waiting for me on the steps. I opened it up and, to my great surprise, it was a Hot Tools Professional Hair Dryer! Also in the box was a letter saying "Congratulations, from the Suave Professionals". I did not order/request this product and was never contacted to receive this product for free or anything like that. I did participate in the Suave online game where you had to guess if the product used was from suave or another brand, and got a coupon for a free product. So I was shocked that I got this blow dryer! Nonetheless, I would like to thank the Suave company for sending this to me.

The Factor Tree

I recently tried this site out with my little brother. I received a free trial via BzzAgent.I sat down with him to do the evaluation test. It was very easy, and he was able to continue playing around the on the site by himself. Factor Tree seems like a very effective learning tool because it makes math fun, which causes kids to be more interested in it. I think it would be extremely useful for those kids whose weak point is in math. It is also a great tool for parents since it sends a feedback report of the child's progress.
I have recommended the site to the parents of some of my brother's friends!

Project 10 Pan

I have finally decided to do this post. It includes makeup, hair, and skincare items. These are all things that I have had for a while now and would like to get rid of either because they are about to expire or so I can try newer products.

1. Black eyeliners- I have a ton of liners, both liquid and pencil, that I need to use up.

2. Maybelline Expert Eyes Makeup Remover for Waterproof Makeup- I do not like this product at all. It is very oily and leaves residue on my skin.

3. Patricia Wexler Overnight Acne Repair Lotion- This is a good product. However, it is about to expire so I need to finish it up. The only bad thing about it is the scent, it smells like a combo of rotten coconut and carrots. Thankfully, it fades after about 5 minutes.

4. Sweet Pea Body Lotion and Body Mist from Bath & Body Works- This has been my favorite scent for the past couple years. But I have gotten tired of it and would like to branch out and try newer ones.

5. Blushing Cherry Blossom Body Cream- I just want to get rid of this, I never liked the scent.

6. Garnier Fructis Leave In Conditioning Cream- Love this, but I've had it forever and am tired of it.

7. John Frieda Weather Proofing Style Sealant Creme- Same reasons as above

8. FX Instant Straighten Out Hair Straighter and Smoothing Treatment- Never liked this product, it makes the hair feel sticky and greasy. This one I might actually just throw away b/c I don't even want to use it. Kinda defeats the purpose of Project 10 Pan but oh well...

9. Random Eyeshadow Palettes- So I can purchase new ones

10. Random Lip Glosses- same as above

The Big Day!

My Orbit gum BzzCampaign came in the mail today!! Yay!
 It included:

A letter with info about the campaign, 6 BOGO coupons for the gum, and the "Official BzzGuide", a booklet lots of info about the gum itself.

And 5 packs of gum for me to try. I was sent the wintermint, sweet mint, bubblemint, peppermint, and spearmint flavors.

I love the packaging-each box is decorated with a cool, retro print. And the taste is great, very minty and refreshing.

I will definitely be using the coupons that they gave me to buy more gum after these packs run out.

I would like to thank BzzAgent for sending me these products for free in order to review.

NOTE: I was not sent the product in order to do a review on this blog, I am just posting my review here in order to help spread the word.
